This is perhaps the most motivating article you came across on the internet. I am not bragging about myself but by means of this article let us try to quantify our lives and how we can make the most out of it. Because at the end, we are all mortal beings and we don’t have all the time in this world. We will eventually be cleared away, sooner or later.
An average person lives for about 79 years but in India, the average age is even lower. According to World Health Organization, life expectancy for both sexes in India is 68 years which is about 24,752 days or 5,94,048 hours.
Now, let’s reduce this number by 3 since the first 3 years of life are spent as a child.
So, the average age of an Indian is 65 years or 24,000 days or 5,68,000 hours. I am sure you understand what this means. You only have 24000 days approx. on this planet and it is imperative that you make the best use of this time. How? Let’s come to that in a moment.
Moving on, we spend at least 7 hours a day sleeping which translates to about 6,901 days or 1,66,000 hours.
Out of 24000 days, 7000 days are spent sleeping which means you are left with just 17,000 days.
Furthermore, we spend 1.5 hours/day on exercise, 2 hours on traveling and 2 hours on eating and other miscellaneous stuff. Another 5.5 hours/day gone, which translates to about 5400 days or 1,30,000 hours.
So, the remaining time with us is approximately 11 hours/day or 30 years or 11,000 days or 2,72,000 hours.
Now, let’s assume that your current age is between 25-30 years which means that you’ve lost almost half your age. Although, you may have done something extraordinarily great but chances are that you’ve not. I am not at all trying to belittle your achievements. Just proving a simple point that our time is limited.
Coming back, if our average age is between 25-30 years which means we’ve lost half of our time and roughly left with around 15 years or 5,500 days or 1,35,000 hours. Isn’t that scary? Or Is it a time make use of this wonderful life to do something meaningful? – You decide.
Mind you, I have still not included the time you end up wasting on social media, TV, Movies, Dating etc. According to an article by Social Media Daily, an average person spends around 2 hours on social media daily which is approx. 5 years over a lifetime and this number is expected to increase. If I reduce this from the total remaining time, we are left with just 9 hours/day or 3500 days or 90,000 hours or 10 years.
I am not saying that all this is bad but all I want to say is that you put this time to the best use. Do things you’ve not done before, try things you have not tried before, meet people you’ve not met before, achieve something you’ve not achieved before.
Bottom line is – Set a timeline for everything.
Remember what I said in the beginning that this is going to be the most motivating article you’ll read on the internet. And if this doesn’t help you set your priorities in order and improving your life, nothing will.
